How many of these are you feeling today?:
Tired of looking in the mirror and not liking what you see.
Tired of eating and buying food that makes you feel like crap, but aren't sure what to change.
Tired of the scale defining how happy you get to feel today.
Tired of mindlessly eating your way through the cabinets because you had a crappy day.
Tired of eating the same old thing every. single. day.
Tired of not knowing what needs fixing.
Well, it's certainly NOT normal, and NOT healthy.
Did you know that med students today only take an average of 27 hours of nutrition-based study during their whole time in medical school !!--out of 8 to 10 years of schooling!
We can never quite wrap our heads around the fact that it's nutrition -–what we are putting into our bodies-- that has everything to do with how we feel, and that nutrition is the key to great health.
Way back in the 1920s, a dentist named Weston A. Price wanted to figure out why so many of his patients were deteriorating in health. He suspected the cause was related to newer industrial dietary changes - people eating more factory produced foods - so he decided to travel around the world to research and study healthy populations in hopes of finding out what was keeping them healthy. He discovered that the common denominator of all these healthy people was that they didn’t eat refined sugars or flours, they didn’t cook with vegetable oils, and they didn’t eat foods processed by modern methods. They also didn’t have heart disease, diabetes, or cancer.
What they did eat were foods high in vitamins and minerals, animal fats (meaning butter, lard and tallow), and organ meats. Plus 60-80% of their diet was enzyme-rich — either fermented or raw. I think most importantly, they prepared their foods according to centuries old traditions--cooking.
Bottom line: they ate real food. We’re supposed to be eating real food. Not chemicals.
Our bodies are not man-made, so why would you put man-made materials - aka food - into it? The human body is so amazing that it continues to rebuild and regenerate new cells even when we feed it chemicals and additives. Unfortunately, the result is not good: our bodies respond badly, with diabetes, heart disease, cancer, gain weight, get depressed, have digestive problems and endocrine problems... Even our brains stop functioning properly.
One thing we’ve lost sight of in our fast, modern world of convenience is the importance of preparing our own food. When you get right down to it, this simple truth is the key to life with great health for you and your family, because you are in charge of everything going in---not a factory.
When you are in charge of preparing your own food, especially when you cook, you're not only feeding your body, mind, and soul, but you're also connecting with others over a home cooked meal, plus saving money you might otherwise have spend in a restaurant or on processed, prepackaged foods. Your own home-cooked meals will taste better, they'll be healthier, they'll be a whole lot cheaper and than anything you could get in a restaurant. Most importantly, you're cooking up an investment in your health.
So, if you're feeling like your health is compromised and you want to get serious about getting back to healthy, or if you just want guidance on how to eat better but don't know where to start, any of my services will get you on the right track to feeling great again!
